If necessity is the mother of invention, it’s a woman’s world after all, especially for those looking for ways to manage day-to-day responsibilities – from the dinner table to the conference table.
In recognition of women who have ideas about how to make the world a better place through their innovations, the SBA is launching the third InnovateHER: innovating for Women Challenge, a national competition to showcase the most innovative products and services that impact and empower women’s lives.
The program is looking for entrepreneurs who create products or services that have measurable impacts on the lives of women and families, have the potential for commercialization and fill a need in the marketplace.
The Florida Women’s Business Center is one of many resources that is sponsoring the call for entries,

What’s on your drawing board?
Some inspiration: The dishwasher was invented by Josephine Cochrane in 1887; Melitta Bentz invented a coffee filter system in 1908 and Anna Connelly patented the first outdoor fire escape with an external staircase.
But it wasn’t all work. There are fun and games, too:
Elizabeth Magie created the The Landlord’s Game, a board game now known as Monopoly; and Ruth Wakefield, who owned the Toll House Inn, created her chocolate chip cookies.
